(See Pictures)Condition Of Books: Two Volume Set In Good Only Condition,bound in light tan leather over brown cloth boards with 4 raised bands to spines and with black moroccan title labels to the 2nd and 4th compartments along backstrip.With Plain brown matt coloured endpapers.All page edges are dyed in a crimson red,a contemporary binding difficult to date.There are small book binder’s stamps of J Hopwood Accrington to the blank endpapers of both volumes.There is b&w frontispiece to Volume 1 of John Wesley and of George Whitefield to Vol 2.The outer boards are well worn and rubbed,mostly to corners and extremities with scuffing,light lifting of cloth along spine of of Vol 2.However the contents of the text blocks remain clean,the red crimson page edges remain vibrant and in excellent order.Bindings are firm with no cracking to inner hinge joins,all page gatherings remain pleasing,no loose leaves,no insect damage.Uncommon 2 volume set.Vol 1 (xxxi) 512pp Vol 2 622pp plus 2 page catalogue of Southey’s work.Second Edition [1820] John Wesley is recognized largely as the founder of Methodism.
