   D.G. Obeyesekere : The Scientific Art of Boxing Second Edition Published By The Times of Ceylon Limited London 1937…..This copy has been Signed and Inscribed by The Author to Sir Samuel Knox Cunningham on the Front Endpaper  (see pictures)

Condition Of Book: This is a Very Good Copy of this Book in Original card covers (wraps) with black title lettering to the upper cover,and with additional photographic panel of Obeyesekere in action mounted to upper cover.This is an unusual and scarce Boxing item particularly in this condition.Signed and Inscribed by The Author to Samuel Knox Cunningham on the Front Endpaper and the book also bears the bookplate of Samuel Knox Cunningham on the same page.Sir Samuel Knox Cunningham was a Baronet, QC and was also an Irish barrister, businessman and politician who attended Cambridge University and became their Heavyweight Boxing Champion.The Author Danton Gammenu Obeyesekere was a former Cambridge University Half Blue in Boxing in the years 1927-28-29 and 30,and Ceylon’s Welter-Weight Champion in the Years 1932-33-34-35 and 36.The book includes some 41 black and white photographs reproduced in part with the permission of Nat Fleischer,the Editor of ‘The Ring’,other photographs include action in the Madras Ring and also in Ceylon.Contents include Boxing in Ceylon,India and Other Lands,Judging,Refereeing and Time Keeping,Training For Boxing,Seconding,The Technique of Boxing and details of some of the Famous Fighters of the time.The Appendix features Rules of The Ceylon Amateur Boxing Association,Winners at Modern Olympic Games and a detailed Bibliography.A clean copy internally and a fascinating insight into Boxing, it’s techniques and form taken.The Author was an outstanding Captain during his Cambridge days,graceful,swift and fastidious in his approach to Boxing and a perfect Gentleman both inside and outside the ring.A Rare Boxing Title,especially as a SIGNED copy 8vo 80pp Second Edition [1937]
