Condition Of Book and Magazines: Very Good Condition are The Magazines that come housed in a Contemporary light brown half calf over marbled boards,with 5 raised bands to spine and with maroon moroccan title label to spine.The outer binding is worn with front cover loose but still attached.There is one former owner’s bookplate to the front pastedown.Contents remain clean internally with some creasing to pages towards the rear of the volume.There were several contributing factors behind this early success for The penny Magazine,Firstly it was the price as it was being sold for 1d in ol money and that made it a financially viable option for the working class audience it was intended for. Thus based on price alone there were few direct competitors for the periodical to be challenged by The only direct competitor in this price range in 1832 was the Edinburgh Journal
