Condition and Status of the Book:

This is a Charming Little Guide book from The Famous Langham Hotel in London in full green leather binding with gilt scrolling borders to the outer boards and with inner gilt dentelles.Four raised bands to spine and with title label in green morocco to the 2nd compartment along spine,other spine sections with gilt floral tooling.There are two former inscriptions to the front endpaper,one of which is crossed out.It also appears to bear the signature of Mr James Sanderson to one of the blank front endpapers.One illustrated frontispiece of the Hotel in all it’s splendour.All page edges are in gilt.Slight rubbing and wear along extremities of the boards and small snag tear to the upper cover.Charming work features some of Langham hotel tariffs plus many historic sites of London for the discerning traveller,132 pages of text plus some 60 or so pages of adverts to the rear of the book.12mo in size measures 14cm by 9.5 cm No Edition stated,so assume that this may have been the first such guide.Binding remains firm with no hinge weakness.[1867]
