This is a Very Good Copy of this book in original grey charcoal boards with gilt title lettering to spine and upper cover and lettered also in black to the upper cover with decorative designs to both front and rear board.Well illustrated in b&w by Frederick Church and James H. Moser.This uncommon Uncle Remus story bound in the publisher’s original cloth with engraved frontis and title page of Uncle Remus present.Grey endpapers and with one former ownership inscription to the front pastedown.A few of the protective guards of the plates are loose,one is torn and slight looseness to a couple of page gatherings within the book itself.With bevelled edges slight wear to spine tips and corners of the book.There is one small bookbinder’s ticket to the rear pastedown of W Greening Fleet Street London.Joel Chandler Harris was an American journalist and a well regarded writer of fiction.This is the uncommon First UK Edition of 1881.8vo 192pp plus 32 page publisher’s catalogue to the back of the book.
