(See Pictures) Condition Of Book: This is a Very Good Copy of this book in Publisher’s olive green cloth with gilt title lettering to spine and upper cover.No Dust-Jacket.This copy has no previous ownership inscriptions present.Their is a little spotting to the fore-edge of the book and to the endpapers,and ther book has one small mark of 2cm to the lower edge of the upper cover.Binding remains firm with no hinge weakness.Robert William Service was born in Preston, Lancashire, England of Scottish parents. He spent his childhood in Scotland, educated at the University of Glasgow, and emigrated to Canada in 1894. While working for the Canadian Bank of Commerce he was stationed for eight years in Whitehorse, Yukon. He was a correspondent for the Toronto Star during the Balkan Wars of 1912-13 and an ambulance driver and correspondent in France during World War I.He settled in France after WW1 and returned to Canada during WWII. His vagabond career took him throughout the world, with a diversity of jobs from cook to clerk, from correspondent to hobo.
