Condition and Status of the Book and Dust-Jacket:

This is a Very Good + Copy of this Book in Publisher’s original and highly attractive Illustrated boards with gilt title lettering to front cover and the spine.The design is by Jessie M King.Top edge of the book is stained green.This copy comes with it’s rather scarce and elusive grey dust-wrapper with coloured plate inlaid to the front cover.Lovely d/j with just a couple of tiny closed tears to the extremities but overall wonderfully well preserved and unmarked.There are no former names present,a little browning/offsetting to the endpapers.The contents internally remain clean and with just a trace of light browning to the untrimmed page edges.The work is Illustrated with 8 tissue guarded colour plates by Alfred Rawlings and with 36 drawings in black and white by Warrington Hogg.Fascinating work on the history of Sundials and their significance of their mottoes.Lovely example of this work which is difficult acquire in this condition and with it’s pleasing dust-jacket still present,8vo Second Edition Published in April 1917
